First Aid

First Aid - Gain the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent, recognize, and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. Standard First Aid is a core course in the American Red Cross Workplace Training Program.

Adult CPR - Learn how to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults.

Adult CPR/AED - Hands-on skills for CPR and AED's prepares participants to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults.



CPR

AED Essentials - Hands-on skills training in AED for those individuals who are currently certified in American Red Cross CPR.

Bloodborne Pathogens - A two hour training component for employers and employees who, while on the job, may be exposed to blood or other body fluids that could cause infection. Employers can offer this program as part of their compliance with OSHA regulations.

Epinephrine Auto-Injector Training - This component can be added to First Aid and CPR training and is designed to help individuals learn how to correctly administer an epinephrine auto-injector to a person who is suffering from a severe allergic reaction.

Asthma Inhaler Training - This lesson can be added to first aid and CPR training and is designed to help individuals learn how to correctly administer an asthma inhaler to a person who is having an asthma attack.




ADVANCED COURSES

CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer - a nine hour course intended for individuals who have a duty to respond to an emergency as part of their job. This course will teach recognizing and providing care for respiratory and cardiac emergencies; perform two rescuer CPR and techniques for special rescue situations; use of resuscitation masks and bag-valve masks for ventilating victims; how to minimize the risk of disease transmission in emergency situations and reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease.



FIRST AID, CPR, AED FOR COMMUNITY & SCHOOLS

First Aid for Community & Schools - One of the most popular Red Cross courses combining all three levels of CPR and First Aid training. Participants learn to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in infants, children and adults; perform first aid for cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, bleeding, sprains and strains; learn skills for treatment of a sudden illness including poisonings, heat and cold emergencies and how to minimize the effects of shock. Course includes First Aid & Adult/Child/Infant CPR.

Automated External Defibrillator Essentials (AED) - available to give participant the skills and knowledge necessary to provide care for a child victim of sudden cardiac arrest through the safe use of an automated external defibrillator. Can be added to the Adult or Child CPR course.

Sport Safety and Injury Prevention Training - In 1997, The American Red Cross teamed up with the U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) to launch this Sport Safety Training (SST) program, a sports injury prevention and first aid and CPR training course targeted to coaches, athletic trainers and others supporting and supervising organized athletics.

This Sport Safety Training program reflects current standards and practices that meet Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) 2000 guidelines as well as incorporates updated USOC injury prevention materials.

The Goals of Sport Safety Training:

Emergency Response - This American Red Cross course contains materials that comply with the 1995 US DOT First Responder National Curriculum and is designed for training first responders. Call the Red Cross office for information on scheduled courses.

Oxygen Administration - a two hour module teaching professional rescuers how to recognize emergency situations requiring the administration of oxygen and how to use resuscitation masks and oxygen equipment. Can be added to any course.

Prevent Disease Transmission - a two hour module addressing how diseases are transmitted, how to protect against disease transmission, how to minimize the chances of exposure and what to do if an exposure occurs. Employers can offer this module as part of their compliance with OSHA regulations. Can be added to any course.
